Plantation Key is part of the Upper Florida Keys, and is one of the many islands that makes up Islamorada. Plantation Key is a site of a number of prehistoric sites, although some had been destroyed during the development of the Overseas Highway. The island houses the Plantation Key Elementary/ Middle School and Coral Shores High School, as well as the McKee Castle, a landmark built in honor of Art McKee, Jr who is known as the “Father of Modern Treasure Diving.” The island of Plantation Key features many waterfront vacation rentals.
